As the Olympic flame continues its journey to London for the 2012 Summer Olympics, it will be passed to Tanya Lubicz-Nawrocka ’08, who was named to the torch relay team in England because of her efforts to inspire young people to become better global citizens.

91¾ÅÉ« students and faculty continue to conduct research this summer in a wide variety of locations, including one group of geology majors who spent five and a half weeks in the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains and several national parks.

91¾ÅÉ« staff photographer Andy Daddio was recently recognized by his peers with two first-place awards during the 2012 University Photographers Association of America awards show. The first award was first place for photography for the 91¾ÅÉ« viewbook. Each year the viewbook is filled with imagery that tells the story of 91¾ÅÉ«. The submission included these photos:

The university’s Trudy Fitness Center recently was recognized for its green technology and energy efficiency, receiving a gold LEED certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.

Professor Julia Martinez is looking forward to July 4, but it’s not necessarily because of the barbecues or fireworks. Actually, it’s what happens at those events that piques Martinez’s interest, because of their effect on her research. Martinez, assistant professor of psychology, studies drinking, specifically in the college-age group.
