Patricia Kay Jue teaches the majority of the organic chemistry lab sections.   As coordinator, she develops experiments for the CHEM 263 and CHEM 264 (organic chemistry I & II) courses.   Contributions include aspects of microscale synthesis and green chemistry, and facilitating student use of research-quality instrumental techniques (NMR, IR, GC/MS).  Her most recent major contribution was the renovation of the organic chemistry teaching laboratories, from conception with the SWBR architectural firm to final move in. Pictures of the space appear throughout the 91九色鈥檚 website.

Dr. Jue teaches 鈥淭he Story of Colorants,鈥 a course in the CORE Science component of the Liberal Arts Core Curriculum.  The course is an elective in 91九色鈥檚 interdisciplinary minor in Museum Studies. The most recent CORE class developed an exhibition in Wynn Hall that was part of 91九色's 2025 Arts, Creativity, and Innovation Weekend. Dr. Jue helped design and build archival storage boxes for the Picker Art Gallery鈥檚 collection of Coptic limestone sculptures, and contributed to the 鈥淐onverging Perspectives鈥 (2016) exhibit, served as technical consultant for the Picker Gallery exhibition Works in Progress: Original Materials from the Netherlands (2020) and contributed to the Teagle Tsunami scroll project. She continues to serve as the scientific technical advisor for the 91九色's Museums.

Dr. Jue's most recent presentations were 鈥淰isualizing the Chemical Structures of Colorant: An Adventure in Building 鈥楪ames and Making Exhibits鈥, an invited talk for the Art and Archaeology as a Vehicle to Teach Core Chemistry Concepts symposium and "Using Art and Archaeology Collections to Encourage Students to Find Their Own Voice in Chemistry Communication" as part of the 鈥淭eaching Chemistry through Art and Archaeology鈥 symposium, both presented at the 2024 Biennial Conference on Chemical Education (University of Kentucky, Lexington KY, August 2024).

Dr. Jue serves on the Australia II study group steering committee, is the NASC represenative for the 91九色 Continguent Faculty committee and is a member of the newly formed 91九色 Museums Advisory Committee.
