My research is devoted to a better understanding of the generation, ascent, and eruption of magma. We combine field work with geochemical, petrologic, and geophysical techniques to accomplish this. I mostly work on active volcanoes but also explore ancient plumbing systems. Field work has been undertaken in the Galápagos, Andes, Cascades, Snake River Plain, Iceland, Greenland, and Antarctica.
