Amy Walters is an award winning journalist for Al Jazeera's podcast The Take.
She has won several Peabody Awards, a DuPont-Columbia Award, multiple Edward R Murrow Awards, and the Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award.
Amy began her career as an assistant at NPR's Middle East Bureau after graduating from Earlham College. In 2000, she joined the staff of Morning Edition in Washington, D.C., then moved across the building to NPR's All Things Considered, where she contributed to NPR's Peabody award-winning coverage of September 11th
In 2003, she helped to open NPR West in Culver City, California, and from her new base, covered the U.S.-led wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in 2005, the 2010 BP oil spill, the 2011 earthquake in Haiti, the 2011 Arab Spring in Libya and Egypt. 
From NPR, she joined Al Jazeera America and from there headed to Doha, Qatar, to continue in television news with Al Jazeera English. Soon after, she was scooped up by Reveal from the Center for Investigative Reporting as they launched the country鈥檚 first podcast and radio show dedicated to investigative reporting. She helped uncover problems with US foreign aid and President Trump's Washington DC hotel. She also received two 2018 Edward R Murrow Awards for her work on the #CitizenSleuth project with the partner news organization, The Center for Public Integrity. In 2019 she was a finalist for another Peabody award after digging into the Trump administration鈥檚 policies on Climate change. 
She now produces audio documentaries and The Take, a daily global news podcast for Al Jazeera. The program has won several awards including The Anthems, Online Journalism Awards, Signal Awards, Lovie Awards, and The Gracies.
